Thesis Statement: How effective is the Film and TV regulation in the Netflix era?

As the age classification ratings (18, PG, U, 12, 12A) are all instilled into public knowledge, it is easy for many to understand them when the guidelines are implemented as they are mostly set by what the public see as appropriate or not. Netflix is one TV service that has respected the BBFC's rating system and actively display them on their programmes and films.
However, not all are as flexible for example, Amazons LoveFilm do not use the age classification. The BBFC are trying to maintain their system through all internet/online film.
Although, the BBFC do not have much of the control because if Netflix disagree with the rating or the BBFC do not want allow the series or film to be shown, Netflix are able to ignore them and continue the distribution of a film/series.
Therefore, the film and TV regulation is not as effective especially as they still have not persuaded Apple or Amazon to use the ratings either. When the BBFC are able to get other online film companies on board of their protective system, then they may be more effective but as they only cover DVDs and cinema they do not have a wide enough sense of control to work well.
